These odd looking things are the wheel wells I mentioned before. They get fitted to the round sockets we made in the strake bottoms, and then glassed together. You have to be careful here. As tempting as it is to get a really tight fit, and pick up some additional fuel capacity and drop some weight, don't go overboard. there needs to be some extra space for safety sake. tires can and do get over-inflated or heat up, and when they do they get larger! Gear legs get tweaked sometimes too...you do not want any of these occurences to cause your gear to bind up in the strakes and not drop down for landing....leave some room!
